My Life, Single.

The summer after my sophomore year of highschool, I decided to quit the dating scene until the summer after my first year of college. This blog will be a documented journey of finding out who I am, singularly.

If God tells you not to date…

Listen to Him.

If you don’t, you will end up feeling levels of pain you have never felt before.

It’s official,

I am going to Florida this March to visit a college. :D

Even if I don’t end up going to that college, I am beyond excited to get on a plane and go somewhere unfamiliar, with slightly unfamiliar people.

Amen to that. Let it be.

I have been a mess…

If satan wants to tear me down, I have to fight it. It means I can make a difference and he can’t stand the thought of it.

The truth comes out.

  • Me: -giant sneeze-
  • My Mom: BLESS YOUR TINY LITTLE HEART.
  • *laughing*...Wait!! That didn't come out right.

Our God Is Love.

Tonight on the worship team we sang this song.

The chorus says, “Our God is lo-o-o-o-ove…” over and over again.

It’s a nice song and has some awesome harmonies, and it’s pleasing to the ears even if you don’t listen to the words.

But if you don’t listen to the words, you are missing out. You’re missing out on a huge revelation that could happen in your heart.

Our God is Love.

That is such a beautiful truth.

I have been struggling a lot lately, looking around at all of the couples in love. I fell victim to the February Blues, ya know, Singles Awareness Month.

But there is a love so much greater that I can have now. I am alone by the world’s standards, but not even close by God’s standards.

To all of you beautiful, single people: Seek God with all of your heart during this holiday. You are not alone. You have the best Partner Ever - the one who will NEVER fail you. Get together with your single friends this Monday and thank God for being there for you.

To all of you beautiful, “un-single” people: Treat your man/woman with respect this holiday and remember your boundaries. Also, praise God together that you have each other, and pray for His blessing over your relationship.

Did you know that you’re a carpenter?

This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build the house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored.”  - Haggai 1:7-8

To get to know God, we have to work. We have to keep going after Him. We have to build up our relationship with Him, like building a house, just like a friendship or a romantic relationship. When we stop pursuing him, the house (the relationship) we build with him gets cracks in it. It does not fall, but it becomes a lot less nice. It’s like not paying rent and someone coming and taking away the nice things in our house. The furniture, the TV, etc. When we ignore God, we still have a house for him, but it’s just a shack. We need to invest the time into God, the Almighty King, to build him a mansion. Because He is a Loving Father, He will take whatever we give him, but why wouldn’t we want to build Him the greatest house known to man?

As a generation, our Houses for God are getting smaller and smaller. There are so many distractions - so many things fighting for our attention. & A lot of the time, most of the time, those other things win. But as a generation, we can stop that! Don’t be discouraged, but let’s decide today to quit building a nice house for satan, and build one for the One who truly loves us and walks by our side every day.

Unity

It has been snowing a lot today, and I went out to clean off my brother’s car.

There was a LOT of snow on his car…a perfectly undisturbed coating.

As I started to break the snow apart, I noticed something.

There was a small clump of snow that speedily slid off of the car with a burst of wind.

That clump of snow was destroyed so easily. Snow, the very thing that has caused people to leave school and work early today. The thing that made the commute to work 5 times longer for some people. The thing that has the power to bring down the day of an adult or brighten the day for a child. The thing that, all together, can create an avalanche.

Alone, though, all it took was a little push, and it was destroyed.

That snow is us! We need each other.

Alone, we can make it, but it is much harder. Together, we can destroy the evil on this Earth. Together, we can bring hope to this world. Together, we can show everyone who God is.

Ephesians 4:1-3

1 As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

I’m going on a date tonight!

…with my best friend Bethany.

She’s not allowed to date for a few years…we shall suffer together!

This growth will not be complete until I am no longer suffering, but content, so I have a long way to go.

Thank you for joining me on this journey!

“To discover life, Jesus says you have to give yours up (see Luke 9:24; John 12:25). Your love life is no different. If you really desire to one day discover the “beautiful side of love”, you have to first walk through the “painful side”. Just like pouring concrete is not the exciting part of building a house, yet is the essential part, the same is true with building a magnificent romance. Laying your life down is not the fun and enjoyable part; it’s the essential part!” - Eric Ludy, When God Writes Your Love Story

Not my will, Yours. No matter how badly I want to follow my own, I know it will not fulfill me. I went through so many years of following my own will and it left me empty and broken. Let this be something beautiful, Lord, help me to be patient. Help me make it through.

If you feel alone in the world…find someone else who does, as well, and be friends.
